“As a career changer I had never been to a conference on horticulture before. I saw from the list of speakers sent to us in advance that they were all of high calibre covering a broad range of topics. On the day the event ran really smoothly with the speakers being willing to answer questions from the audience at the time or staying on afterwards to make themselves available. I hadn’t anticipated though all the interesting conversations I was able to strike up too with the other participants, be that in the lunch queue (top marks for the catering) or sat near me between the sessions. I felt I learned a lot from them also. All in all, Ross did an amazing job organising such a useful and informative event. He may have made a rod for his own back as it could become an annual date on the calendar!”

"The Growing a Better Future in Horticulture conference you organised at Pershore College in February was fantastic. It was great for students to hear of some of the latest developments in growing technology, sustainable plant culture and the wealth of career opportunities opening up to our next generation of skilled horticulturalists. For growers and business with a horticultural connection, especially those who are experiencing a skills shortage for their future business , a wonderful opportunity to meet and talk to potential employees.
Well done Pershore College for facilitating the day, most of all well done Ross for all the energy and organisation you put into it."
" On my recent visit to Pershore College of Horticulture to present at the inaugural Horticulture Conference organised by Ross ( after 45 years since attending the college), I realised that it wasn't just a time to learn specific nursery tasks in horticulture but the skill of learning itself. The ability to be open minded about new technologies, new ideas, new approaches the same science we think we know and love.
What Ross has done is to allow people from varying sectors of the Horticulture industry to come together and present sustainable ideas, support for students and for them to consider new ways of looking at old ideas.
These talks engaged me as a student and has allowed me to progress in the industry as I have. Thanks to Ross, a whole new raft of students will have that benefit and hopefully be the industry leaders of the future. "
“The event was informative, interesting, and inspiring. HTA was extremely pleased to be able to support this invaluable chance for students to find out more about the horticulture industry and the huge range of career opportunities within it”
